Working mode of APC UPS backup host
(1) Normal operation mode
The load is supplied by the mains power input. Generally speaking, it is through a filter or regulator. It can eliminate some interference and provide certain voltage regulation. IEC standard does not pay attention to this filter, but only refers to it as "ups switch". However, the IEC standard states that "additional devices may include devices with power supply adjustment functions, such as ferromagnetic resonance transformers or transformers with self regulating taps". The inverter in this UPS is in the passive backup state.
(2) Backup mode
When the AC input voltage exceeds the specified tolerance range or fails, the battery and inverter can continue to supply power to the load within a short conversion time (generally less than 10ms). IEC standard does not specify the time of such conversion, but it limits that "the load is directly transferred to the inverter or UPS switch (UPS switch can be electronic or electronic mechanical)" during the backup time, ups will continue to operate in battery powered state until the AC input voltage is within the specified tolerance range, and then the ups will return to its normal operation mode.
