How does APC Schneider ups work?

As a data center operator, you need to understand the importance of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in minimizing downtime and data loss. This is the first line of defense to prevent the interruption of power supply. If the worst happens and the power goes down, a powerful and reliable UPS power supply system can provide a critical moment for the safe shutdown of its servers and it devices without erasing data.

But do people know how UPS works? More importantly, you need to know the different types of UPS batteries and which UPS might be most suitable for their data center?

Three main types of ups are outlined below:

Backup ups - this is the simplest and lowest cost form of power protection. The load is always supplied by the mains power supply. In case of power failure, the power supply system will switch to ups and its fully charged battery as standby power supply. Offline UPS is not the most suitable power protection method for critical task environment such as data center.

Online Interactive UPS - this type is similar to offline UPS, but adds protection to the automatic voltage regulator or AVS. This minimizes the risk of any voltage unpredictability. Online Interactive UPS units are commonly used in telephone exchange, server and small motor applications.

Online ups - also known as online dual conversion ups. In this type of power protection system, the load is not directly connected to the power supply. The power supply enters the ups and converts the rectifier from alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) through a rectifier. The UPS inverter then converts it back to AC and supplies the actual load. Unlike the two methods mentioned above, if there is a power failure or interference in the online power protection system, the power supply will not be interrupted, even if it is only a few milliseconds, it will immediately switch to the standby power supply.
