Factors affecting UPS operation

The problems of interference or damage to computers, precision instruments and UPS power supply often occur in the power grid

1. And the duration of a surge above the rated voltage is 110%. Surge is mainly due to the power grid connected to the large electrical equipment shut down, the power grid due to sudden unloading of high voltage.

2. High voltage sharp pulse: refers to the voltage with peak value up to 6000V and duration from one tenth of a second to one half cycle (10ms). This is mainly caused by lightning strike, arc discharge, static discharge or switching operation of large electrical equipment.

3. Transient overvoltage: refers to the pulse voltage with peak voltage up to 20000 V, but the duration is within millionth of a second to one thousandth of a second. The main reason and possible damage are similar to high voltage sharp pulse, but there are differences in the solution.

4. Voltage sag: refers to the low-voltage state in which the effective value of the mains voltage is between 80% and 85% of the rated value and lasts for one to several cycles. This problem may be caused by the start-up of large-scale equipment, the start-up of large-scale motor, or the connection of large-scale power transformer.

5. Wire noise: refers to radio frequency interference (RFI), electromagnetic interference (EFI) and other high frequency interference. The operation of motor, the action of relay, the work of motor controller, broadcast emission, microwave radiation, and electrical storm will cause line noise interference.

6. Continuous low voltage: refers to that the effective value of the mains voltage is lower than the rated value and lasts for a long time. Its causes include: large equipment startup and application, main power line switching, starting large motor, line overload and so on.

7. Frequency offset: refers to the change of the frequency of the power supply more than 3Hz. This is mainly due to the unstable operation of emergency generator or UPS power supply with unstable frequency.
